Semi-Automatic Bigger Wheels

  Renault meggy
I have a 1.2 Semi-Auto Clio and have been told by my garage that the 17" wheels I have put on are making the car run incorrectly because the computer is set up to use the normal wheels.

Anyone know where I can get the computer "adjusted" to work with the 17" Wheels?
Thanks,
Hixxey

EDIT: Sorry just reaslised this is the wrong section

Thats all it'll be but only a bit, nothing to worry about.

It wasn't the Reanult garage it was a small one near me. Cost me around £1000 to get something in the gearbox fixed. They had my car for 3 weeks!

I took the wheels off after the advise I was given. Do you think it would be safe for me to put them back on? The person at the garage said that they were telling the gearbox to go down a gear at the wrong time or something like that

O/T but wow a QS5, i've never actually seen one.

It might have something to do with it as speed/revs ratio will be different with the bigger wheels and it might cause troubles with the QS5 box.

Yeah sounds silly to me too, just put em back on, and learn how to spell Renault too hehe ;)

Been on the phone to Renault today and they have said that their is no way for a semi-automatic Clio to have 17" Wheels. So I have to stick with stock or get some 16".
Anyone want to buy them?

Renault would say that, though.

Complete hogwash.

Keep the wheels on, they're talking out of their baguette-holding behinds.

Personally I think they just dont want you to have 17's on because its non standard. Anything up to 2 inches bigger than your original factory standard wheel is ok, it is recommended not to fit anything over 2 inches then standard because it can cause problems.

That garage is talking chocolate drops, they are probably twitchy because they are not used to having cars with non standard reno bits on lol.

When you say "run incorrectly" please describe your issue.

The box uses data based on certian perameters to determine when to clutch in, if you know the problem then we can help.

I didn't notice any problems with it at all. I just saw the gearbox light come on and took it to a garage.
Apparently, Having bigger wheels makes the car down gear automatically, at the wrong time.

For instance, if I were to slow down for traffic lights, the car would automatically go down a gear according to how fast I was going and how hard I was braking. But with bigger wheels this apparently makes the computer think its going too fast/slow and downgears too early/late?

EDIT: Also, this gearbox light came on time to time before I got the bigger wheels but after it was on much more often
