SERV light? (not the airbags for once)

  Golf GTI 1.8T
Early today my serv light came on, Id been parked up for a bit then when I pulled off I noticed it on so a bit freaked out turned the engine off and back on drove about a mile or so to a garage, stopped and went to get something come back out, started again and it was off. What could it have been as I didn't come on with anything else on the dials?

Alrite mate, have u lowered your car?, because i have am its alot harder/stiffer and its made the sensers under the seats come loose.

This brings the service light on and the air bag light too. If you tape ur sensor conections up so they dont move under the seats it dont come on anymore.

Usualy you have other lights coming on at thge same time as the Serv light.
My car randomly throws a serve light after its been parked up after a fast drive (about 3 times in its life) there no problem I think its just a Renault thngies. However check your oil as this is likly to be the main problem restating when the engines still hot and causing a problem.

yeah I know the about the airbags lights etc I'm an expert on them! but it didnt come on with anything thats why I was concerned. It hasnt been lowered or modified apart from my seats, which the wires are twisted together and not coming undone, plus the air bag light would show if they disconnected.

Check your oil level is OK.

My sister had this on her dynamique, just the serv light on it own. I topped it up with oil and since then its been alright.

hmm, it says 'oil ok' on the computer when turning it on so is it actually related to the serv light?

check the dipstick to make sure if its hovering around the min mark top it up.

My sisters car wasnt showing oil OK when she started it up and I didnt check as to the causes of the serv light.

It has as far as I know, filled it up yesterday, sorted the light out though so I assume that was the problem.

I had the SERV light come on, then another light came on and went off, the SERV light remained however. I switched off and on: Normality resumed!

I BLAME THE FRENCH! I even had dashboard display issues on the bimmer (once).

As you know Mitch, I've had issue with the SERV and airbag lights too,..

I've replaced every connector under the seat with B&Q's finest connectors,.. the airbag light's still illuminated too.

I think a kicking and tree branch battering moment a la John Cleese coming on!

Will let you know if this helps.

nice one john, pics of your banana shape clio round a tree to follow then?? Thats very strange that it is still on if youve have replaced all the connectors as normally some wiggling and a prayer sorts it out. I would go to renault and ask them mate, thats what I did and the bloke in servicing was very helpful. I'll have a look at me oil tomorrow then, cheers peeps.

Cheers fellas.

Have resisted the urge to batter the lil dark-skinned french tart.

I'm surrendering, gonna book her into the Stealers as soon as I can.

I've tried, I've failed.

Think I've finally sorted the old bags out!

i'd neglected to fiddle with the wires under the passenger seat (in fact didn't think there were any there til yesterday whilst munching on a KFC around the corner from work at St Helens)

Anyway I undid them all and pushed them back together; got airbags and 4 EURO NCAP stars oncemore!!!

Even if the fault recurs I know were it is located,.. Can now cancel my appointment with the dealers made for such an early end of November. So helpful those chaps at Renault Liverpool.
