Yay! Mine's filling up with water! Have fun, I may speak to you all later! Lol! :D

What went bang? Air Con? Pipe crack?

Oh, and top marks for coming on ClioSport before fixing the issue.... Haha.

"Sorry, building falling down, brb" ;)

Why do they always put them next to the bogs? or a kitchen? Heh... with cold pipes running through them.

We had a pigeon in one of ours once.. was in the roof, then got down after a tile moved. I'm not kidding you, he must have been scared, cus' there was crap everywhere...... not the biggest room either, so lots got covered... Haha.

think its stems from the days when we had departmental servers running netware then they decided to consolidate and stick them in a cupboard

now they are in a slightly bigger cupboard lol this time not next to water though

Woops :p

Last winter we had both AC units in the main server room die (first one failed because of dodgy wiring, second one couldn't cope with the additional work and shut itself off)... 45c temp recorded in the server room as I walked in.. was nice n toasty

Only destroyed 20 or so hard disks and most of the key servers had shut themselves down.

That was a fun morning, dashing about with desktop fans and opening windows. Took the aircon company a week to sort them both out :p

Nice. We've had our air con leak several times making a nice soggy paster hole in the ceiling!

We have just had a new £2million air con system installed and the damp has gone but now theres so much dust from the building work, 3 private contracted companies have come in to clean the room and after seeing the state of it refused !

If you touch any equipment in here your filthy straight away lol.

Deaf cold and filthy with cracked lips, The joys of comms rooms.

The building air con lives above the server room, and the landlord noticed the system was leaking (didn't think to look where), just kept topping it up!

Next thing, drips this morning and then 30l of water cascades down the wall and under the false floor...

Still managed my beer and burger down the pub for my last day!

PMSL!

Nicely planned out that server room then :p

Server room is planned out fine, it's the planning of where the server room is that doesn't appear to be done! That thought did cross my mind though as I was stood with a fluorescent light diffuser held up to one of the big leaks chanelling it into a bin... :clown:

Heh!

Above the server room in my first job was 6 tons of UPS batteries.. I remember the first time being told that they weren't sure if the surveyors report was 100% accurate as a crack started to appear in the ceiling :p

We've got that on the ground floor! :D

TBH I don't think it's a load of s**t - I just think it's an expensive way of teaching common sense...

oh i agree

hence i kept arguing with the bloke giving the course

why do we need a DML when we already have a cupboard with all our media and licensing in why cant it just be called a cupboard with everything in it !

LOL @ That video with the guy tipping a bucket... That's what you get for letting chavs in your comms room.

Our server room has bespoke dynamic drains which in the event of the humidity/enviroment sensors picking up water, will open. The drains are under the false floor, and the sensors on the skirting. It's all hooked up to the UPS.

The AC units in our room though are w*nk, we leave them on 19deg, but usually one of them will break every 1/2 months and start blowing our warm air...shite.

I'd love to get some of those proper chilled racks, but the cost is huge, plus having to rehouse the servers, wiring and repatching...fk that.

DR plan go as expected, or did you fk off before it was done?

We've had the air con fail twice in one of our rooms, and a dishwasher on the floor above decided to not finish it's cycle and run all weekend once. Wrecked half the building, luckily not the half we have the computer rooms on.
