Service light

Hi all,

My 172 (02)'s service light keeps coming on without apparent reason. Its last service was on 29K and its now on 34k. Can someone let me know what activates this light and some good places to start looking for the cause? No other lights are coming on at the same time by the way!

Connections under the seat are a good place to start (airbag system).

some kinda problem is being registed from one of the various sensor on the car. search the forum, for the error code thread, that tells u what to do to reset it. hold the button at the end of the stalk in, and turn on the igntion, instrument pannel does a test, press the end stalk button a few times to get the error codes, then press the reset button

she said no other lights are on - so no airbag light :evil: so probably not the airbag wiring

That won't help with this.



You realy need to get it to a garage see what the fault code is its rare for just the serv light to come on, check oil level but apart from that you usualy get another warning light at the same time.

im sure someone on here said that the light was just for faults and not for the service! iirc. could be wrong.

SERV light has nothing to do with servicing the car, it only shows that there is a fault
