Service on a valver

  2004 Racing Blue 182

can anyone tell me what is involved in a full service??

my valver seems to run ok when it warms up, but up til then it runs like a bag of spanners!

as much as i would love to get it serviced at a garage and keep the history up, i am really not in any kind of financial position to doso, therefore am going to do it myself!

Any advice and a list of bits and bobs would be great, thanks.

Yep. TBH most are probably ok but you should deffo clean them, ONE AT A TIME, with some WD40 to remove the gunk from them. Do them one at a time though, otherwise theres potential to get the wrong leads on the wrong connectors which is very bad.

Oil filter is awkward but once you find the right position under the car youll do it. Fuel filter is near the spare. Id recommend buying some jubilee clips first as the old clips are probably just crimp on type ones. Also get (from halfords I got mine) some plastic hose crimps to crimp either side of the filter. Some petrol will come out of the filter so dont panic when it does. I had a large piece of cardboard under me at the time and that soaked most of it up, but also get some old rags.

Halfords and other places will probably alos sell 5L plastic jerry cans that you can put on their side and have plugs in. This makes draining the old oil off very easy.

Thats about it really.

Tend to do most things myself on mine.

Oil and filter change every 6k a must. Have done it myself for first time and its a pig to get at the oil filter. 20 quid at national tyres gets you it all done with duckhams qxr semi synthetic and new filter. Not worth etting your hands dirty at that price as oil costs 20 quid on its own.

Air filter will need cleaning or replacing depending on
