Servicing intervals question

  LY 200
Chaps/chapesses

I last had my motor serviced in May last year (its 24k one) at 22.5k but have only just gone past 26k on the clock.

Is the rule strictly 12k or a year for servicing.....If i come to sell after the summer and it hadnt had its 36k done in May would people look down at my motor even though its would be on well sub 30k??

Im in two minds, only seems like yesterday it was serviced and i havnt put a whole lot on the clock since so im thinking does it really need another as early as the next yearly interval!?

Cheers

Jay

Well for any warranty to be valid it has to be 12k or 12 months. Even if the car isn't used much parts will still perish whilst stood and as such will still need replacing at the specified intervals.

Also there is only a 1 month/1000 mile tolerance on the service intervals.

its 12k or 1 year... 12k = 1 years average mileage.. so it needs servicing every year

Not according to the Technical Section, as posted by Edde - who knows his stuff:

Servicing (UK only)

172/182
Normal servicing is done ever 12k or 2 yrs there is a 1 month/1k tolerance so you can have it done up to 25month or 13k before any warranty implications. Beyond this time/warranty period you maybe asked by Renault for a % payment from yourself for warranty work depending upon how much later you had the service done. However they can only really ask if having the service done at the right time would have spotted the issue. The servicing period used to be 12k/1 yr some dealers haven’t changed there stickers or aware of the new rule which applied to the Renault Sort cars now

If you don’t do 12k ever 2 yrs then the car needs to be serviced ever 2yrs to the same specification as if you had done that mileage.

well if im wrong im wrong... i thought for the diesels and stuff it was 18k / 2 years. and the performance stuff was 12k / 1 year... maybe im confused with the cars on 9 k service intervals??

Ok sailor but that defeats the object of the 'service' as im only asking the questions for stamp purposes really as i dont feel the car needs servicing again after just three and half thousand miles specially as it sits in a dry garage for most of its life.......If i service it, the books still not gonna get that stamp is it!?

If its three or four against you though that says its two years then great.......I dont need to get it done anyway!!! :D Ha

  Clio 172 mk2
Mine had it's 24k service early as it was 4 years old but was well under 20k on the clock

Same with the 5yr/cambelt service..had that done in oct on probably 22k....car still 5 years old though so needed doing.

Going to service the car yearly (oil filter, oil etc) from now on as it's well out of warranty.

^^^Sorry chap...I dont get on here much anymore so i was unaware it was a frequent thread!!!

I thought the threads that were on constant repeat were the 'my girlfirend sh?ged another fella/do you think im gay' ones and not car related ones anyway!? Ummm...........!!!

Thanks for the info though, i feel better now and swear not to commit the crime of a repeated thread again!!!

  It's A Reno
Considering that practically everyone on here has a Clio of some sort (so Reno shouldn't object too much) couldn't the service manual etc be scanned in so people who have "lost" theirs can use for reference purposes.

Another forum I use has the whole repair and parts manual online.:)

Just a thought.

  It's A Reno
Is that going into copyright laws then?

Yes it would infringe the copyright of the documents.

My point is that considering these documents would only be of interest or use to people who drive a Clio and who should already have access to these documents, but for some reason don't or cannot find them, it is of not detriment to Reno to have them on public display.
They are of no use to anyone else surely.

They contain imformation that would help people look after their cars and potentially earn Reno business if people find that things are due to be done etc.

I'd be interested in hearing Reno's and other forum user's view on this.

As previously mentioned, it wouldn't set a president, other sites already do this with the manufacturer's approval, and it would be handy.:)

Ah. It's basically a detailed list of servicing intervals and what the service is made up of. It's from the 'Guides' section.

Its all in the service book.

I know someones said already but...

Clio 2 expect RS - 18k or 2 years, whichever is sooner. RED service book.
RS 172/182/V6 - 12k or 2 years, whichever is sooner. RED service book.
RS 197 - 12k or 1 year, whichever is sooner. GREEN/PALE BLUE service book.

Theres soo many service intervals Renault use now its tricky to keep up, some are on 9k/1yr, 9k/2yr, 12k/1yr, 12k/2yr, etc etc. Its ridiculous!

IMO, Ideally in between regular services (DCI cars especially) on 18k/2yr should change the oil at 9k/1yr atleast.
