Setting up remote access on XP - Help

Car  German Barge
Morning all,

i want to be able to access my computer from work via remote access.... how do i go about doing this?

if im using the wrong term, what i basically mean is i want to be able to access my home computer from my work computer.. lol...

thanks, chris.

Using XP Professional

right so far i have gone into properties "my computer" clicked "remote" and allowed conntection to this computer on both work and home computers, all i have to do now is go home, find out my ip address, type that in to remote control, along with password and user name, and technically i should be away? am i missing anything?

if your behind a router on your home pc then yes you are as it wont work

also your work connection might block outgoing remote desktop packets

I tried it from work too but the work firewall blocked it. I could do it from a mates house though. If you have a router you need to enable the DMZ on the router firewall as well as input the the work IP into the home computer firewall so that you get access.
