She’s got the wobbles!

Well since I got my car the speedo has slightly wobbled. Like .5 of a mile an hour until you get about 40. Then its fine. But recently (mainly since its been getting colder) its getting worse. Its bouncing around about 5 miles an hour. So if I am doing 27mph it bounces between 25-30. Or at least thats what I think its doing, because I cant really tell what speed I am doing.

It was slightly anoying when I first got it. But nothing more. But now its becoming dangerouse for my license. I dont really know what speed I am doing. If its a bit big job or expensive I will just be carefull around police. As I am getting a new car in about a year. Was going to be less but I cant find a sodding job! Grrrrrrrrr

Strange thing is, it didnt do it on my way back from work today, well there was a slight bob. I just remember seing it doing it when its very cold.

This happened from about 6k miles on my old 1.2. Didnt happen at first on my Valver, but did after I had the gbox re-built at 83k. Replace the speedo cable if its really bad, but by all accounts its a pig of a job.

More than likely the speedo cable is faulty. Renault price these genuine cables at £68.50 + VAT. Yes - they are a bit of a bugger to fit!

mine does that slightly. If you do get the speedo cable done and the problem gets sorted youll have to let me know mate?!?

Had same problem with my old Mk 1 1.4S and 16V. Changing the cables had no effect. Twas OK over 30 tho...

My mates clio has a bad wobbley speedo needle all the time mine only has a slight wobble at 40mph
