Shes gonna blow

  850 T5. mmmm Turbo!
I got gome tonight and noticed steam or smoke coming out of my grill, so i opened up the bonnet, i couldnt see any water or fire, but i noticed the radiator water bottle was empty, i filled this up about 2 months ago but it hardly ever moves, so i run the engine (with water) and all seems fine but then i realised theres water on my driveway where the exhaust is.

is is possible to get water from the cooling system into the exhaust???
if so im guessing this is serious!!

so i dont dare take it anywhere incase it blows up, how far can cars run with no water??

*panic stations*

probably just your rad split, if you need to go anywhere carry loads of water and stop to top it up when the temp gauge starts going up. sorry I don't know much else

To be honest, if your radiator is split you need to replace it or have it fixed. I don't like the thought of firing something through my engine that 'magically' repairs holes in your radiator. Think about what else it does to your coolant system and how it can restrict coolant flow.
New radiators are easy to do and aren't that expensive.

you should easily be able to see where water is comin from get lookin properly!

and yes cracking an egg into ya cooling system is actually better than radweld and that stuff! bizzare but true!

Really wouldn't bother wiht rad weld or eggs etc, mate of mine fixed a leak in his rad wiht rad weld, it decided to leak ahgain going 90, temp shot right up, head gasket went......fucked engine, ended up having a complete new engine.

Stand the car over a dry patch of driveway or cardboard and see where the leak is comming fromn, look for drips and trace it back to moisture/wetness on the eninge etc, and see where its comming from, radiator is just one option, there are plently of hoses etc that could ahve split, be aware that its provbabily dripping onot something and running down and that why it appears to be comming from the exhaust. Trust me there is no way you are going to get coolant in your exhaust.

And jyst tpo reinforce my point stay WELL away from rad weld and silimar treatment,s replace the part, even if its wiht a 2nd hand one, much better for long term piece of mind

Eggs do work it was done on Mythbusters on Discovery Channel! Wicked programme but I wouldn't do it for long!
