I took my 172 mk2 along to Renault in Aylesbury for a minor 48K service. Big mistake, huge. They made so many mistakes and overcharged me.
To start with they used budget 15w-40 semi synthetic oil, I thought my car needed 5W-40 Fully synthetic. I argued for ages but didnt get anywhere on this point.
They then charged me for an air filter despite telling them i have an ITG panel filter. I should have known the bint on the service desk wouldnt know what this entailed.
I then went out to the car park to examine their work and check all the fluid levels. They hadnt touched the PAS or Brake fluid and both were on the minimum level, the caps were also filthy so i know they hadnt touched them.
I also noticed that they had charged me for a cabin/pollen filter which i had renewed on the last service. They also charged me 9.99 for forte engine treatment, I know this definately isnt required for a service.
I then complained to the manager, who admitted that they had actually not removed my ITG filter, its still in the car, but they had charged me anyway for a new filter. He wouldnt budge on the oil, which im fuming about as i will have to change it myself tomorrow. He refunded me for the cabin filter, air filter and Forte.
But get this. As soon as im about 2 miles away I notice there is no petrol in the car, which admittedly I didnt fill the car up to stop them joyriding it. I then thought, f**k, theyve mixed a whole bottle of Forte with less than a pint of petrol. I gave the accerator a quick push and the response was stuttering, almost as if it was going to stall. I pulled over and called them on my mobile, and they had blabbed on about I should be OK, and they even admitted they noticed there was no petrol and they couldnt test drive it. I asked why they put so much damn forte in it then and they said they put it in before they noticed. There was no manger there to complain to so I hung up and drove to the nearest Shell to fill up with optimax. After driving around for a while the car feels back to normal.
Do you reckon that Ive damaged anything running on virtually neat Forte?
What should i do about the wrong oil theyve put in my car? will Renault UK do anything ?
Oh and they charged me £250 but then refunded £50 for the filters and forte.
