Should i change my cambelt

My car is a mk1 clio, 1995, only done 17,000 miles. Orignal cambelt.

It was suggested to me that i change my cambelt due to the age of the car.

What do you guys think?

every 30k or 5 year! even though ur millage is low, the belt is old. better safe than sorry!

Yeah my nan had it till a year ago from new, only used it for pottering down the town - bless her.

Took a thousand miles to run it in, cus as you can imagine being almost 80 she wasnt going at excessive speeds. So i have a virtually new car.

Only cost me £800 too :D

Yes, age is a factor in the belts failing.

whats better a £150 for a cambelt change or £700 odd for a head job!

lol

Gonna have to get it booked in for the cambelt then :(, morre money.

Wonder if they would give me a discount if i had my suspension done at the same time?

My car had its cambelt changed 10,000 miles ago (bit less than!?) and when cold squeaks like anything, and if the engine gets hot (very hot!), it can make a funny noise?! Does that mean the car needs a new cambelt? I ask cause a mate has a Corsa 16V which did the same and Vauxhall said he needed a new Cambelt!
