Should I keep both cars...

Ive had 2 cars for about 6 months now, a valver and a rt and i took the rt off the road as i was looking into selling it and having the valver as a full time runner...but ive been lazy and not really advatised it or spent a lot of time with it...so its come to the time now where im thinking should i...

A, Sell the rt and keep the valver as an everyday runner and track/quarter mile car? However i dont want to ruin it as i only do a few miles to work and back everyday and so it never really gets warmed up which could be a problem along with everyday use?

or B, Keep them both, insure the valver as limited millage, then it should be cheaper, insure the rt fully and then drive the rt most of the time to work, tip etc and spend a bit more money on the valver keeping it top notch and improving it in some cases more for the track etc?

Does anyone have any input or wise words they can give on the subject, northy, 2live, anyone with without two cars?

Cheers

Danny

Personally Id sell the rt, is the extra cost of insuring two cars worth the benefit of keeping the mileage on your valver down.? I can see your point of view though as you could be pretty extreme with your 16v if it was just going to be a weekend/fun car...hmm Do you know how much insurance will be for the rt and whether its all in good working order still??

Id sell the RT personally.

Having 2 cars has its advantage as the one car can be made of the job ie stripped etc but for the extra gains unless your doing tonnes of track days etc its not worth the extra cost.

When I got my first Williams, I meant to sell my 1.2.. but I couldnt.. not just because I didnt advertise it but probably because I didnt want to.

I didnt wanna sell it, but then I did about 6 months later.. I just taxed it and kept it in the garage until then.

I then decided I needed to sell it. I was lucky I guess.. I sold it to someone who I know will look after it..

2nd cars are great, but, if I did it personally, Id get something I didnt care about as the main car.. (something bigger, practical, dont care where it gets parked) and keep the Williams as best.. heh. (or 16v in your case).

Me too... i appreciate you probably adore your valver but im not sure its worth the financial problems of keeping 2 cars just to keep it looking pretty, the Williams is a classic and i would say its worth that effort.

Thats a possibility or buy a 5 turbo...but at the mo im enjoying the valver so will stick with it for a bit!

I agree selling will probably be the best option but at times when ive had to have the valver off the road a 2nd car was excellent and thats whats making me think this way...along with the fact of everyday driving in it...going to the girlfriends etc she only lives down the road and for some reason i always drive but it seems pointless as the car never gets warm!!!

martin - the rt could do with some work but has been stood for a couple of weeks at a time and still seems to start and go first time every time..touch wood! Also pal not that bothered about the millage really would just like to have two cars for the conveniance! Insurance would only be cheap for me...under 500 i think! Then limited millage on the valver!

2live - wouldnt mind stepping up to a willy but i want to play around with the valver a little bit...2.0ltr route maybe so...mind u a williams would already be like that!!!!...u got me thinking now!!! Insurance would be a killer on a willy pal! just remembered!

Hi,

I currently run two cars - a 1.2 8v mk1 and a N reg Valver

Love the 1.2 for getting me to uni ad back (35 miles e/w) then the valver for weekends and fun etc. Im finding it quite expensive but its well worth it!

hope i can keep them both, its great keeping the valver for weekends.

Cheers

Tom

cheers for that tom...i see what u mean it could make me appreciate the valver more as well as save the daily wear and tear of it as well as alowing me to take it off the road for work every now and then but could get expensive if they both start breaking!

Have u had any bad experiences with them tom and could you give us a rough price of how much they set u back etc?

Cheers

Danny

P.s pm me if u dont want to post any prices!
