should i trade in my xb360 for a wii?

  none, just walk
i cancelled my preorder for the wii cos i didnt have the money, but now im thinking about getting one. now that all the sold out hype has finished, im thinking about trading in my xbox360 for it, is this such a good idea? the wii looks really good but im worried incase its just a gimmick and ill get sick of it after a hour or so. i love nintendo and i really want that new zelda cos im such a fan of the series. my xbox360 whilst being all next gen and having the best graphics, i just aint played on it for a while. i rent the games cos i cant afford the £50 price tag per game, i love GOW and rainbow6, but i dont play computer games for ages to full experience the depth of games. i aint been online with my 360 yet and i hear that makes if more fun. Is there anything good coming out for it soon that is going to be the next big buy? and also for the wii for that matter?
basically i dont wanna get my wii play on it and be 'stuck' with it cos the games are only fun for the first ten mins and waste it.
the thing that appealed to me for the wii was the get up and play aspect of it but would that warrant getting rid of the 360 for one?
i cant afford both so its either that or the other but not both.
any advice from the owners of both?

Ask yourself this:

Do you play games that involve other people most of the time?

Or

Do you play games on your own most of the time?

I'd imagine it's probably the second choice. I cancelled my preorder, cos I don't really play games with anyone else and I imagined that once the novelty had worn off of swinging a controller around - then I wouldn't bother with it. It'll be cheaper than buying a nintendo.

Try a month on Live gold, and play some online stuff with your 360.

Deffinatly dont trade your 360 for the wii, i have both and if it came to it the wii would go over the 360.. dont get me wrong the wii is good but longevity the 360 wins.

  Better than yours. C*nt.
The Wii's main appeal is to people who don't enjoy current console games. If you enjoy current games, then the XBox will hammer the Wii technically and this, ultimately, wins the war of the consoles.

I think PS3 will do well, when they stop trying to charge PC money for it - let's be fair if it came down to it, my £500 would go towards my car or my life than on a games console, I was pushing it at £300 and without sounding bigheaded, I've got a great job that's well paid and I live at home. My boss is also in the same boat as me. That leaves kids, and there's only a small number of kids who's parents will stump that much up for them...

You dont have to 'chip' them.. a softmod with the dvd drive firmware allows you to play backup copies of your original 360 games. takes 10 minutes to do and stops your originals from getting wrecked when friends decide to tilt your 360 from standing up to lying down while a disk is in the drive !

Why do you drive a 182 if your so well paid ;)

Id say only console keep a 360 but I do love my Wii

Because I've got an Audi A4 for a company car, and I wanted something which was my own because a) the A4 isn't particularly fun to drive and b) isn't really mine, it's the companys, and I've got a motorbike, and that's more than enough motoring for me at the time being. I wanted something small, comfortable, nippy and practical and the RS182 fitted the bill. I also considered a Monaro, if that makes you feel any better, but I'm taking up too much of the drive as it is.

I also have a terrible habit of spending around £300 a week going out drinking etc, and near enough every month I have to put a significant amount of my own money into computer hardware/software/displays etc for my own company's development, as I don't intend to be where I am in a year or so's time...

I also like to put things back into the household that I live in - I'm not one of these scrotes that lives with parents for nowt/very little - I've just finished having the garage turned into a room with two big doors so that we can work on cars/bikes in comfort, and over the next couple of months our oldish plasma will be going in there after being replaced - assuming I can find a good deal on a 1080p Plasma.

Now that you've seen how big my willy is, how about piping down and chilling out - my point is that nobody in their right mind will shell out £550 on a games console. Those saddos that lock themselves in their room with their PCs can't spend that much on graphics cards!!!

why do u live at home if u have such a well paid job?

Because I don't want to move in with one of my mates, and I'm single. I'm not living on my own!! I've only come across moneysponges, headcases and trollops and I think I'm going to go looking in Nottingham or Birmingham soon, cos I think that sums Derby up!

LOL you bite far to easy fella ;)

Now go do some work and stop typing such long replys ;)

Its all subjective though, why bother buying a 1080P plasma when the one you have is fine surely thats no different than someone wasting £550 on a PS3, I wouldnt pay 500-550 for a PS3, I would however pay £375 which I did. Cheap Blu-Ray player

I have the misfortune of having been on call last night, so will be fairly grumpy as the two phone calls I got (which are supposed to be complete outages only!) are one for some twit who couldn't log in to their phone and someone who couldn't remember how to refresh an application set. Raaaaaaaaaar!

And as for the plasma, no it's not fine - it's only a 1024x768 panel, and fine for the odd game but I'm sad and like to spend a long time playing them - the console is capable of better and so is my MediaPC and Sky HD, so as such the 'wasted' expense becomes less of a waste because it's improving 3 media sources and benefitting 4 people, rather than just myself because my dad gets motion sickness watching the XBox 360's opening screen, and my mum "Forgets to brake" in PGR3 and doesn't know how to work two hands independently.:clown:

LOL I think all parents are the same when it comes to games.

Have you not thought about a PS3 solely as a Blu-Ray player? For £300-400 its pretty cheap and will do 1080p as well

I got a Blu-Ray drive in my mediapc, otherwise yes I would consider it on that merit... Although that does take a little out of my sails for 'it's too expensive' as the drive cost me £500.... But it's a recorder so that's alright!! :)

LOL you shouldnt have mentioned that, as your argument now makes no sense ;)

Especially when Blu-Ray blanks are still silly money

Not entirely, as it has enabled me to dump my entire 45gb music collection onto one disc, rather than having to borrow work's DLT drive again or using 10 DVDs!

no i was right

The PS3 has no internal hardware scaler, which means games that are 720p native can only be shown in 720p or 480p; there is no scaling up to 1080p or 1080i. This causes people with older HDTVs to have issues with the available resolutions, and keeps them from playing the games in anything but 480p. It's a vexing problem for a system that's supposed to be HD, and this issue is one of the most challenging that Sony faces

I've had the same thought before, but it certainly doesn't make me happy as a first-generation consumer. It will be very interesting to see how Sony ends up fixing this, or if they think it's a problem at all. For the time being, most games will be 720p native, so the majority of HDTV owners will be able to play them. This is an issue that you may or may not care about. Or maybe you have a 1080p set already and this doesn't bother you. It's hard to know just how many people this affects, but you should be aware of which resolutions your television can handle when choosing which system to buy.

That's exactly what we decided here the other day. I was chatting to my boss about it and as good as the Wii is, if I had to chose I'd go with the 360.

out of the 3 id go with my 360 because the playstation is a ripp off and keeps going wrong, if i lived with a bunch of people a wii would be the way forward, But if ya play games mostly on your own id stick with the 360 as most games are available somewhere on the net for £30 each anyway!!!

thats what i think anyway!!!
