Should the outside temperature be showing?

Car  2002 172
Should my car be showing the temperature below the clock? Assuming all Clios have this?

If the sensor in the wing mirror wasn’t working, I would think it would show a random temperature and possible fault code?

Thanks!

should be showing temps somewhere, normally when they go bad they show some wierd temp like 45 degrees c or they read a lot higher or lower that actual temps

when the radio is off what does it display?

It should be showing the temperature below the time , like in this pic . Like da rok says , they usually show some wierd random temp if there's a problem . I very much doubt it'll throw a fault code up though.

Mine shows nothing whether the radio is off or on. If a fault doesn’t show up, can I assume the sensor has been disconnected through the wing mirror or something?

Do I dare venture into the wiring of these cars...

It should still show your time and temp even with the radio off . Maybe there's a break in the wire or there's a problem with the sensor itself . I wouldn't have a clue how to check that tbh .

The time is always displayed, it’s just the temperature that’s missing.

Must be a break in the sensor wiring. Should be fun tracing that if it’s not disconnected!

Well I do have the temp sensor showing underneath the near side mirror?
And my girlfriend had an 02 1.2 Clio, which I’m certain showed the temp on the display.
I’ll have to take the mirror apart and investigate further.
Assuming I can test the sensor by measuring resistance across it?

Ok so I’ve just been out to check this sensor.

It is definitely there and definitely connected!

Where can I find the wiring diagram to trace the cable cable and check connections?

I have traced the sensor back to the connection under the mirror panel.
Looks to be on pins 3 and 4, green and brown cables on the door side of the socket and measure 8.7ohm across the pins.

I am assuming the sensor is ok if there is resistance so the cable must be broken/disconnected somewhere else along the way?

Has anywhere got locations of all cables/connections or will it be a case of removing half the interior to follow the cable along...?

Did you ever resolve this? I just thought my 172 didn't come with an outdoor temp sensor as it has never displayed on the screen.

Its very basic just 2 wires straight from the interior clock to the mirror..sensor might be broken or disconnected if no reading. I retrofitted the temp sensor in my dci and my kangoo.

Never resolved.
Sensor resistance changed so assuming that worked. Never had a reply to the cable pinouts once in the car, and have not looked at tracing the cables back yet!
