side opening bonnets

Has anyone ever done a side opening bonnet mod on the clio phase 1? or even changed the way the bonnet opens?

If so any pics please and what hinges can you use???

I think I remember see something like this in Max Power years ago. I think that they used hydralic lifters and brackets but not really sure.

would it not just be a case of getting special hindges made up that will allow the bonnet to open sideways and the a strut to hold it up? does look smart me thinks

i cannot find any examples of how its been done. I have about 4 sets of different hinges and can't seem to be able to get the correct movement.

Thought you guys would be able to find some examples!!

This is harder then 19" rims!!!!

im thinking that you would have to use customs brackets and possibly hydralic arms to support it... look at how its done on other cars and try to mimmick it.

my bodyshop wanted £300 to do mine, that was a mk2 clio. You have it hinged on the right hand side wing, then havea plate welded near the left hand side suspension turret with the lock and spring in, then jus trelocate the catch and spray it up. Was going to have it done but then i thought its hardly like ive got anengine worth showing off, so spent the money on some clothes and went the pub

thanks for all the posts but sorry they are not really helping me! I am looking for some examples of bonnets so i can try and see what types of hinges were used, so that we can have it copied.

doing it does not worry me my bodyshop will do it, just need to work out how to do it.
