Getting a new aerial on the house soon, I'm sure one of my mates said something about a digital aerial or something, to be honest I haven't got a clue if there are different types etc....

Just bought myself a nice HD TV so I want to be able to get the best quality picture, is there a specific aerial to go for or are they all the same?!

I've got a D-Max 52 element high gain digital aerial. £90 fitted iirc. [New house, so no aerial or cabling to start with]

Get 10/10 signal strenth on all the digital freeview channels.:D

Does yr new HDTV upscale the digital pictures to make the most of the greater number of pixels available?

^ no idea about upscaling :S

How many aerial sockets did that include? We need 2/3 new ones and 1/2 connecting up from an old aerial.

Sorry for late reply pepsi....

Sockets were already fitted by housebuilder [2 No, 1 upstairs, 1 down] with wiring into loft.

Engineer fitted aerial around chimney, trailed cables into loft, connected cables and checked reception. Job done.

Must recommend getting a decent aerial cable from yr wall socket to yr HD tv. Try www.tvcables.co.uk and try and get an IXOS 75 ohm co-ax aerial cable. I got one from them it was about 8 or 9 quid. What a massive difference that made to my picture quality!!!

And if youve got a dvd player that can use them or xbox/ps3 get hold of some HDMI cables. My standard dvd player upscales to 720p or 1080 via HDMI to my Viera. Tried Casino Royale last night and then Forza Motorsport 2 on the Xbox. Phenomenal difference. I thought the xbox graphics were on a par to ps2 until last night.

You'll need sky hd or virgin hd to get proper hd. You cant get hd through freeview i.e. poor mans telly.. If you buy a non sky system with hd and put your own dish up and point it at 28.2E you can get BBC1 HD and Channel 4 HD for free.
