Silicon Inlet Pipe?

  Black-Gold 182
Hi all,

I'm looking at changing my inlet feed for my air intake, but I'm struggling to find a supplier. All the ones I have found on the 'net have the inlet tube for the crank case oil breather, but I was going to fit an external oil breather. Does anyone know of a company or supplier that does silicon tubes WITHOUT the oil breather inlet pipe?

afaik, the main 2 supplies (Samco & Hillpower) both have breather pipe attachments on them - (samco has a longer breather feed). What your effectively looking at is a 90 degree bend then at whatever diameter the oem / replacement ones are which are all over ebay quite cheaply i think (sub 20 quid)
Im just mooching whether the samco can be got in different colours and if anyone on here is still supplying them

The Samco one you can get from K-Tec Racing (unless I'm very much mistaken and they have stopped doing it in the last two days!)

Cheers for the info.

Sound. So just to confirm, all I really need is a Slicon elbow, with ID 75mm? (I'm correct in thinking that's the throttlebody dimension?) Then it's just a case of connecting it up to my air filter?

pretty much yes, poss worth measuring one of a car before commiting to buying :)

edit - just looked at ktec site and 73 quid plus p+p but is available in diff colours !

what exactly do you plan for the breather then ? Attach some sort of filter elsewhere ? how does this effect the running of the engine ?

The breather (at present) is diverted into the air inlet on the intake. I'm in the process of enclosing my induction kit, and fitting a cold air feed - nice cool, dense air for my engine!
The theory is however, all my hard work would be undone if I continue to let the warm, oil filled air into my intake - it can cause knocking of the fuel/air mix, and also warms the air.

Truthfully, I'm probably not going to notice much of a difference in performance, but I wanted to replace the inlet hose, so thought while I'm at it, i'll resite the oil breather - it's just a peice of tubing to run from the outlet to an external filter. http://www.europerformance.co.uk/pages/products/product_info.mhtml?id=411836 is the one I'm looking at.

Keep us posted on how this goes n wot Price u got the Silicone Pipes for cos I'm looking for something liike this but Samco is so so so Expensive I feel,
Will the Oil Breather Filter make any difference tho? Where r u planning on siting the Oil Filter??

Performance wise, nope. All the oil breather is for is releaving the pressure inside the manifold. Siting wise, I am not 100% sure. I'm not sure on the size of the filter, but in theory it should be able to be mounted behind the engine block - where the tube exits the manifold. Failing that, I can always attach it to the bulkhead.

the samco is 74mm one end and 70mm the other - exactly the same as the original pipe.
As well as that has an oil resistant inner layer so the silicon does not get damaged by any oil returning up the breather pipe
As said is available in Red, Green, Yellow, Blue, Black, Orange, Racing Green & Purple!

to be fair, id imagine a silicone elbow without the breather connection would be much better due to the removal of something which would disrupt airflow intot eh system (somehting inially i wouldnt have said made a bean of difference but is proved wrong by the fact having a slicone elbow Vs plastic / rubber one makes a reasonable improvement.)

Hi, ive just fitted my bmc induction kit today using a silicone 90 degree bend with no brether which i bought off a company that i found on ebay. Just fitted the seperate breather filter that came with the induction kit staight onto the breather outlet on the engine. Sounds great and is deffo a little more responsive. Getting a cold air feed is a nightmare though.
