Silicone hosing... advantages?

What are the advantages (if any) of Silicone hoses over the standard rubber ones?

Just interested.

They look better, the rubber ones can wear out easily if things are rubbing on them (especially in cramped bays like 172/182) and eventually rubber perishes and goes soft under the heat..

Don't they withstand pressure better as well? More useful on high boost turbo engines.

as said, with stand pressures better and dont perrish (sp) look good tho

Maybe withstand that thing that makes them collapse at high revs better? No idea what it's called,

Couldn't see much under the MK3 bonnet to change to silicon though when I looked?
