Sky + and Multiroom

We currently have a Sky+ box in front room, then a normal one multiroomed upstairs. Few questions:

1. Can we have another box linked up? If we got another sky+ box could we have 2 sky+ boxes and a normal one. Or if we got a sky HD could we have the sky HD downstairs, sky+ in another room and normal sky in another?

2. How much is a sky+ box for an existing customer?

3. How much is a sky HD box for an existing customer?

4. Installation costs?

THEY CAN ADD AS MANY MULTI ROOMS AS YOU WANT IN THE CONFIGERATION YOU WANT I UNDERSTAND.

OFFERED THAT FOR £125 i THINK

An additional box for multi-room also comes with an additional charge of £10 per month per additional box... if that makes sense! if you were to just install extra boxes in every room you wanted it in then you would only be able to watch the same channel being displayed from the main box.. so to be able to watch different channels in different rooms you have to pay the £10 extra per month, per box.. Ive made it sound really confusing, but its hard to explain! lol.. hope this helps! haha!

oops sorry should have said it was £10 per room (extra box) to mirror your main package, you will have to pay for every box at reduced rate, have each one connected to phone line (although I don't).

I would recommend sky+, seriously enhances the value of having sky or at least the value of paying for sky as you get far more from it.

Have you had the warning letters yet? They send these out then if you don't connect them and start charging you the full package amount for the other box.

Yer we had that problem with our multi-roomed one. It was connected but they said it wasnt and they tried to charge us full amount for it. We had to do this test thing on box to make it connect with them or something.

The connecting phone line is going to be a problem because im right on the other side of the house.

I thought installation was £60 for existing customers?

I was told when we got it that you could only have 4 inputs due to the dish. So either 4 single boxes or 2 sky+/hd (as they require 2 inputs) or 1 sky+/hd and 2 normal.

They might have changed that now though, best to call and ask.

4 is standard quad LNB, apparently you can get 8 output and 16 output LNB's also.. not sure if Sky supply tho? Can't see why they wouldn't.

quad was the most they could get at the time. That was over a year ago now though so might have changed.

Yea, I've only ever seen a quad LNB from Sky on their mini dish.

How did you get offered those prices? They said to me its £100 for sky+, £200 for Sky HD and £60 installation. Even for an existing customer. We have been with them for 7-8 years and they don't give us anything better than a new customer!

The connecting phone line is going to be a problem because im right on the other side of the house.

I just bought some wireless DECT extenders. Sorted.

Im just wondering why sky would want you to have the box connected to the phone line all the time? I know it updates the box software and allows you to order movies and stuff but can they get info about what programs you are watching and when by using the phone line as well?

Always wondered how you hear stats like "3 million ppl tuned into cornation street on sat nite" or something like that.

hmmm i see...

i have sky+ and although im not impressed with the wireless internet which comes as part of the package and the amount of repeats on the channels, the box works well!
