Sky + Box - Broke!

Hi, We have had sky + installed since it was first released, But for the past few weeks, On some programmes I record to the Hard Drive, When I play them back, The sound goes all strange and the picture jumps? This makes the programmme unwatchable, The last straw was last night when I tried to watch All The Presidents Men I ahd recorded.

I know I Can phone sky and get bum raped on the price, But is there any thing i can do to "fix" this?

You can get Sky+ boxes for next to nothing these days.

Sounds like the hard drive may have given up the ghost,depending on the fault you may be bale to get a replacement of sky

Whats the point on paying for a service you cant use eh?

Have you tired a full reset as below ? you will lose all the recorded programs and need start your recording planner again

Do a planner rebuild before you do that. You shouldnt loose your stuff.

Sky+ boxes are cheap sh1te.

Try the rebuild etc and resets then get a new box.

We have had 5 boxes so far and the current one isnt compatible with our TV and cuts in and out on some recordings.

Sky's service is terrible, i am loathe to upgrade to HD with all the sh1t we have had with their pony equipment.

New box's arent expensive £80 from Sky, same price on ebay aswell... you can buy 2nd hand box's but you run the risk of problems with them.

Atleast with a new box from sky you get 1 year quantee...

I'd say this is deffo an area where Virgin media is better than sky, firstly you don't have to buy the box and pay for the extra cover incase it breaks(which it will), you only pay for installation and more to the point if it breaks they just come out and bang a new one in like

Just threaten to cancel, if they want to keep you as a customer then they'll give you a new box for free if that's what you demand.
