Whats Virgin media like for sky ?

Virgin have the same channels minus a couple of +1 services, most of the +1 channels on sky are holding channels so in the future the broadcasters can release their new channels on these slots, the reason why they have done this is because there is no longer any space on the satellites so its within the interests of broadcasters to hold these channels and sell/upgrade them in the future. Now BskyB are in talks with tiscali (the company who own home choice) to buy them out (buy stocks in tiscali if this is true!!) which will mean they no longer have to worry about bandwidth as they will allocate new and on demand services to a wired connection (this will mean they have more space for future services). However if everything stays as it is then sky will own the monopoly for the next 5 years as they are cheaper to broadcast on sky then on virgin and also its more accessible. If the recession continues (which I hope as it means I get paid more) then virgin will take the market as they have near unlimited bandwidth (depending on how quickly their upgrades take place) and they will be able to broadcast more channels which will be more popular with those laid off and with nothing better to do all day then watch TV (as we all know people will sell their car's before their TV'S!) and the demand for more channels would be accelerated to virgin as most of the space on sky is owned by wealthy broadcasters who will only sell their extra space to gain profit.

I can't tell you much about what to do with you bill, I don't work in that department but if your thinking of moving to virgin then u aint gonna miss much and hopefully gain more in the long run.

You should get a letter warning you (I've known letters to go out even when it is connected, saying it's not).. it is in the contract though to have it connected all the time for the first 12 months.

Plug your phone in ring them and you'll get the money back. It states in your contract that you must have it plugged in to a BT line for the first 12 months. You do normally get a warning letter first before the fine though.

  A blue one.
This is because you've got multiroom and the reason that they do this is to stop you sharing a multiroom subscription with your neighbour.

Both boxes must call home from the same telephone number to prove that they are in the same household and it's in the multiroom contract that both boxes must be connected to the phoneline for the duration of the multiroom subscription.

This is what I suspect has happened.

Massive telephone extention through the wall FTW then? ;)

Virgin is good if you want to change.

I hope so, our Sky+ isn't plugged into the phone line, and we were never advised there would be a charge if it wasn't.

Will be time for a huge extension if that is the case from the front room, to the hall.

I used to have multi room and none of the boxes were plugged in, yet we never got a letter or anything. My parents used to have it and they got letters requesting it to be plugged in, but never got charged.

If they charged me that I'd cancel subscription straight away.

IT would be the best thing in the world if SKY where to merge with virgin but as highlighted in the sky1 argument Murdoch and Branson will f**k the general public out of channels before they ever kiss and make up!

I would try and get your money back before ditching Sky. Moving from one evil to another isnt worth the hassle.

but then there would be no competition. cant see that being good for the consumer.
