Slipping belt

When driving - Moving in gear - i get the sound of a belt slipping. If the car is staionary nothing, any ideas?

Possibly the alternator belt. You can tighten it yourself.

Mine does it first thing in the morning to due damp.

if you look where the alternator fits in, it has a fixed pivot bolt and another that allows it the alternator to move, like a sliding bolt where you tighten it where you want it.

slacken it off, get someone to push the alternator away tightening the belt, then retighten the bolt.

dont over tighten the belt. the belt should be able to be twisted 90 degree with the fingers
