small bump

  Skoda Fabia Vrs 180b
going home last night and the car in front of me slowed to a stop, and unfortunatly i didnt react in time and gave him a small tap :(

now there isnt too much damage to my 182, just a small dent on the bonet and a few scrapes on the bumper, but the clio I hit came off a biot worse. apparently the clips that hold the bumper have broke and there is also damage behind the bumper that has bent part of the bodywork. what i cant understand is how there is so little damage to my car and so much to his....the crash was at less than 10mph

so he got an estimate today and for a new bumper, spray it silver and the rest of the work and labour he is looking at £1500 before I even get my car done. I didnt want to go through insurance as if I lose my no claims I might not be able to afford to renew my insurance on this car in the summer. My excess on my current insurance is gonna be £600 anyway and I was made redundant last week.

Jesus im annoyed

That sucks for you mate.

TBH you need to have a proper look at your car. I once knew a bird with a KA and she smacked someone up the arse. She and her family saw NO damage whatsover, but when months later she got someone to look at it, there were bits underneath the bonnet bodywork wise that were 10" out!!!

£1500!! You're having a laugh aint ya? He is talking b****cks. Say to him that you would like to escort him to one of your 'friendly' garages and get a quote. Next, i bet he will say that his neck is hurting.

You certainly need to get his car looked at by more parties and agree on a figure.

Sorry to hear about your bump.

Tyson.

I will quickly take my car to the local garage now and see if there is any damage and how much it will cost to repair mine and then I will get in touch with the other guy and see if I can go to a garage with him.

Never had a bump so not really sure what to do, im just more annoyed more than anything

£1500 is not an unusal quote for a minor bump from a Main garage. If there is bodywork under the bumper that needs sorting, the bumper replacing or painting. £1000-£1500 is average for a car less than 5 years old in a minor fender bender IMHO.

£1500 is b****cks mate - I needed a lot more work done to mine and that was £800 from my insurers approved repairer

Note: I'm just talking about cosmetic damage - a new bumper and getting it sprayed not mechanical damage underneath)

I went to the garage and to get my bumper resprayed etc will poss only cost £300 or so, so I will foot the bill for my own damage and the insurance will take care of the damage on his car.

As im only claiming for the third party I wont have to pay an excess, I will just lose my no claims and whatever it costs to get the car checked over and resprayed.

I'm praying it isnt gonna cost too much and that my quote at renewal time wont be sky high. nevermind.

Hang out paying for it for 14 days, if he aint told his insurence company by then the crash is void. Pay for yours, tell him to fo. :p

he has already told his insurance. im really annoyed as it wasnt as if i was speeding at the time or anything. its a road i travel down 2-3 times a day and i know it like the back of my hand. just lost concentration for a second and the breaks werent enough to stop me.

on another note, anyone in the north east area reccomend anyone to do the respray? is black/gold a hard colour to match and am I best off taking it to the main dealer to look at?
