Small number plates

Looking to buy some new short number plates from ebay. Could someone tell me the size of these plates (or similar). And, are they legal so long as the letters are normal size, and its just the plate that is shortened?
Cheers

ahh, i always thought as long as the letters remained standard size it'd be cool.

still, anyone know the dimensions? cheers

to the best of my knowledge as long as the letters are the correct size and font, the spacing between the letters is std and the backing is reflective they should still be legal.

looks like you may need to cut the plate down to size though as it wont let you order 3/4 size background?

Only a real traffic cop would spot one around these parts but you will most probably have him behind you on the motorway so you should be ok.

Mine has been on for nearly 2 years and i've never had an issue.

i have had my plates cut down to smaller size but with standard letters and spacing for about 3 years now, and 2 of those was spent parked on a police carpark... so i doubt you'll have trouble, tho there are pedantic traffic cops out there!! iirc its the size of the letters and spacing for cameras and visibility etc..

there is a traffic cop up here who will pull you over confiscate the plates if they are illeagal, as these ones will be, and bascially put your car off the road, major bugger but guess thems the rules

shouldn't do if the letters are correct mate and the plate is a legal reflective one.
'Characters must be 79mm high and 50mm wide with a stroke of 14mm.Inter-character gap is 11mm and the space between the two parts of the registration number is 33mm'

the ones above are diff though the spacing is illegal, sorry mate i saw the link to text being 3/4 size but the drop down menu below which was for the actual plate itself (not the text) only quoted full size so the text would be 3/4 but on a full size background, wouldnt be a big job to cut them down and smooth them off.
