Not really a detailing question, more of a damage limitation question.

I've just put a deposit on an RS 200 in Racing Blue. The car is in beautiful condition, so I'd like to keep it that way.

No doubt we will all see some snow this year as it's bloody cold already. So, when you have a snow covered car, how do you remove the snow safely?

Will simply pushing it off scratch the paintwork? I'd assume it couldn't do it any good, so any techniques? (Besides a garage)

i normally just chuck a boiled kettle over it. its always got the snow off... but if its >0degrees it gets a sheet of ice over it instead. but i dont mind as it makes it look uber shiny

They only way to get it off completely safely is to melt it slowly with the warmth of a kitten (insert any small baby mammal - if a kitten isn't readily available)

It takes a while but you won't have any scratches!

The snow is the least of your worries, your fucked when it rains and you have to use your wipers. It wrecks your windscreen you know!

You stand outside in the cold, with a hair dyer warming the snow up to get it off your car? F*ck that.

Wipe it off with my arm or one of those wiper blades without touching the car with it to avoid scratching it.

police are hot on snow lumps flying off these days. You really need a soft hand broom, and being very carefull take off 80% of the snow leaving a small layer on top that will slide of when you drive. This way your not touching the paint. It's the only safe way to do it!

Rather then brush the snow off physically, i prefer to stand exactly 5ft from the front of my car and will the snow to melt. I find this doesn't damage the paint at all. It can take quite a while though so get up early.

Funny. I do something similar. I get the girlfriend to stand near it. She's hot, so a few minutes and voila.
