My mum's 7 (ish) year old PC running on XP has died and will not boot up. It was preloaded so doesn't have a OS disc as far as I know.

What's the options?

Windows Boot Discs available somewhere?

Buy a Ma...

;)

eBay. Loads of copies on there. Some are genuine. I had to do that because I lost my old Tiger discs a couple of years ago.

After seven years though, you should be replacing it. lol.

Buy a wha...? ;)

As for error messages, it comes up with Windows failed to start and gives the option to enter safe mode etc. This just sets it going in a loop bringing up the same Windows failed page and the option to enter safe mode.

Tried all three options of safe mode and various other things but it will not go any further.

I'll be back at home monday (will have windows at hand). I can always send you a copy and you can try a repair.

Cheers Darren will definitely be in touch if the need arises! :approve:

Conneh - thanks for the offer also, I have just downloaded the boot.ini files so going to try that tomorrow.

It doesn't boot in Safe Mode no, just takes me back to the Windows failed screen.
