some help needed for a newbie.....

  RenaultSport clio 172 mk1
hi to all, ive only recently joined these forums and to be honest ive obly recent bought a clio 4 weeks ago, but here goes....

ive bought a clio sport 172, 2001 x reg and has done 63000 miles, now for some reason it keeps over revving?? i originally took it to renault who thought it was the throttle spring and they have replaced that got my car back (with a dent in the door - thanks renault) and still the same problem.ive taken it to another garage whom i know well but they dont know the exact problem either and are going to change the throttle cable today on my recommendation. After posting on the parkers website somebody on thier has told me the f'fly by wire' needs adjusting, anybody know if this is true??

it over reves as im pulling up to trafiic and whilst im driving it gets stuck at 2500 - 3000 rpm, has anybody else had this problem?

"Fly by wire" throttle was on Mk2 172's. Yours has a physical cable throttle.

As for the problem I can't help with that but I'm sure someone will have the answer for you.

Shocking to take your car and get the door dented! Had the same thing happen to me last week. Had it fixed now but they were arsy with me as if I was trying it on! Are they going to do a repair?

my mates saxo done this...ahem..

the battery connections wer rusted...and the alternator couldnt re-charge the battery....

thats what happens when you have a bonnet vent, huge amount of ICE...and a saxo

If you had an older car, I would have said that maybe the lever on the carb where the throttle cable attaches could be bent or sticking,(happened on my old renault 11) on these newer computerised things I haven't got a clue where the darn cable ends up. When I first looked under the bonnet of my Clio I said, wtf, where the f**k, and why the f**k have they done that? (Garage job all the way for me these days). lol
