Something hanging from the underside of the car

Would anyone like to hazard a guess at what this is? It's hanging from under the front of the car, towards the rear of the engine.

It looks like cabling that leads towards the back of the car.

As far as I can tell the car is running fine, and everything seems to be working. I did a track day yesterday and noticed it this morning though, which probably isn't a coincidence.

Is that rubber from tyres you picked up from the track?
