somethings not right

it been a odd day for me cos I saw red car pass my house 6 time & never see that car before in life. Then 7 time now at 5pm they stop at my next to my house & 2 guys went out of the car to looking at my car one guy stay in the car. I was outside doing garden so I went to the front what was going on then the guys rush back to the car drove off quicking! One guy post into the letter box say: bridgfords card but that look came out the magazine, this must they were trying to steal my car. They think I wasn't in btw but I think they will came back at one night.

great now I'm really f**king piss off:dapprove:

depends where its parked. if its on street do as ad says and block it in. they maybe trying see what stereo you have in it. if you go booming round with it on loud you may have attracted some attention and they want to see whats inside it. if thats the case id poss (if you have an easy out system) remove it for a week or two just in case

I don't think so this is was try steal my car, I was walking to them & then they guys walk quickly back to the car & drove off

Giles - sounds like they are eyeing it up for the steal mate, this s**t goes on round me too. Happened at my mates before, 2 cars pull up outside his house, few blokes start looking in through the window and this happened more than once. Don't know if you want to hear the conclusion to this so i'll stop, but dont take it lightly just in case, as said, block it in with another car.

yes i've only met him once but i understand fully and people should stop with the slatings its not on. he is only worried about the safety of his car. he doesn't need more stress from people being c***s

give some details of where its parked at night. if its a drive then think about one of them bollard efforts that you can raise and lower. go and get a disklok. hard as s**t to get off and visible detterent. is it apparent that its alarmed (maybe not). tons of things you can do. Clamp it, remove the battery connector at night. barring towing it away theres tons of things you can do if you're that worried. i hate to say it though but if somone wants you're car that badly they will have it. that pretty much goes for all and any

Giles. I understood it perfectly. I would take preventative measures like blocking it in or set up a video camera.....but if they want the car just let them take it.:dapprove: Unfortunately we love our cars too much, but they are just bits of metal and plastic.

If you can't move/hide the car overnight, then i suggest my old tactic. Remove two coils and/or the battery. Pain in the ass, but you know they aint starting it if they break in.

Mate, get a wheel clamp on if it'll fit under the arches.

It might be a bit of a pain but it'll be worth it to stop some thieving gippos from stealing your car!

Yep, Giles you are right to be concerned, this is a tactic used by car thieves.

I know a lot on here will tell you not to bother, but give the police a ring and pass as much of a desciption of the car to them as you can. They will create a 'log' and match it against any current intel they have against the local and not so local car theives, and this will give them an idea of who it might be. They can also put an 'attention drawn' up against similar cars. They night even be able to drift by at night if they arnt too busy.

The good thing is, if you make it even slightly difficult for them they will move onto another easier target - they'll want to be in and away as quickly as possible. People say 'if they want to steal a car they will' but this is only true of the 'good' ones, the people who are really good at stealing cars go for the really expensive stuff. Block it in, move it, put a lock on it, something like that will actually deter them.

Giles, i had this with my old 172 and here's what i did.

firstly after the people had gone i went out and took everything out of the car that was valuable. Then i left the car unlocked overnight, in the knowlege that if they were going to break in, i would make it easy for them to save damage to the car.

I also took date and timed photo's of the suspect's cars (i even posted them on here if you remember?).

The morning came and i rushed out there to see what the result was... and nothing had happened.

I hope you're as lucky as me mate.

If you can't block it in, or disable the car in anyway, then try and find someone you know that doesn't mind you parking it in their drive for a few nights. Make sure it's at least a few streets away though, and that nobody follows you when you go there.

Hopefully they were looking for a house, and were genuinely just interested at looking at your car.

I know a mate of mine who was in the same kind of situation with his motor........ so he attached razor blades under the door handles. In the morning there was blood down the door ha ha.

Get it round a mates house for a few nights Giles if its bothering you. Or try and block it as said above, using another car. Get the reg and any info you can if the car comes back.

What a great idea. Fantastic.

Sucks a bit that someone wants to steal a car, but if they want it they will get it.

Do as people said get a lock or even take a wheel off just to annoy them. The fuel pump would really nacker them up and then you could easily get out with a bat to beat them up.

Aye can't you get a wheel clamp and steering clamp? The more hassle it is for them to do it, the less likely they will even attemt anything.

Just make sure your car is empty of stuff, take the facia off your radio if it has one and clamp/block it at night. Stick a light on the exteria of your house etc/fake camera.

Loads you can do which will put peopel off.

stupid idea. I can see them kicking the s**t out of the car once they've cut their hands as revenge.

i'm sure i saw a garage at yours? :S is it full then?

otherwise, remove everything from it (you never have much in it anyway!;))

also maybe look at getting those bollards that fold flat to the floor to allow access?
