Sony CDX-MP40

Had this unit for about 10 months now. It was professionally installed at time of purchase (brand new) but just lately seem to be having a few probs...

Basically, if it gets too cold, the unit wont allow me to swith to CD1 or CD2 (changer) and often wont retune Radio. Also if car is parked up all day in sun (at work etc) the volume control sometimes stops working and again sometimes wont let me switch source or tuning!!!! Ive had it back to the shop a couple of times but it ALWAYS behaves perfectly when they look at it!!! Just wondering if anyone else has had same probs or is it just me...??!

where did you buy it ?

i work for Motor World, and in this situation id offer the customer the chance to send it to our repairers, however if it comes back with no fault diagnosed then there is a charge

maybe the shop you bought it from can do the same, i presume you still have the receipt etc

Just to rub in mines always worked perfectly..

I bought the unit from a Car Audio specialist in Skipton North Yorkshire. Think its just still under warranty got it this month last year!! Have had it back to shop but they presumed the problem was with my changer so had it for three days to test it only for it to work perfectly so they simply reinstalled it in my car.



Its just hard to prove to them that theres a problem when it always performs perfectly for them!!!!

I have a Mp40 and had no problems with it, but was told by autoleads the people who do the connection cables to the standard renault stalk that there was a problem batch released by SONY.



They told me that when you put one the autolead kits on it the volume would just go up and not stop......
