Soon to be owner (hopefully!)

Hi, I'm Jack. I have been slowly saving up for a car over the past 6 months. I have considered a Type-R a 106 GTI an MX-5 amongst others, however I have settled on a Clio as I think it offers the best value and seems to be a cracking car!

I'm after a Renault Clio 182 Cup ideally, however I will be searching for 172 Cup and all 182 variants (hoping for at least Cup suspension pack on one though). My budget is fairly tight, so I may hear some groans here, I have got between £2500 to £3000 to play with, this is my target price anyway.

I hope to get something soon! My renewal (20 y/o, 3 yr ncb) comes up on January 6th, so I can finally get rid of this crap Vauxhall Astra (even more rubbish, soft CDX version) stop gap I am driving around in.

See you around! I have already found the Clio variants comparison PDF very helpful and I will be reading up on other tips.

EDIT: I signed up in 2009 when I was in Clio 1.2 territory, but never posted :p

Welcome mate, don't bother with a 182 cup.

Go for a 172 cup if you want a 'raw drivers car' or a 182 with both cup packs, then you get all the extra goodies as well if you want a bit of comfort.

As j said, don't get a 182 cup. Get a 172 cup, or 182 with cup packs. 182 cup will be poverty spec compared to 182 with cup packs and the performance/weight is marginal, if anything at all.

Never seen a cat for sale on here but then again I've never looked for one.

Welcome along Jack, I've had both the Clio 182 Cup and the Civic Type-R. Definitely go for the Clio if you want a cheap fun car.
