Sounds stopped working...

can anyone help. my pc has all of a sudden stopped playing any sound. everytime i try and play a song i get a message saying

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly."

it was working fine all day and has just stopped. any ideas?

Sounds like your drivers are fooked, try reinstalling them.

ah haaa ive done it and it works. that was far too easy. thanks

What make PC is it? Do you have a drivers CD?

Try going - Right click on my computer > properties > hardware tab > Device manager > Scroll down to, sound, video and game controllers. Here there should be a yellow !, Right click the sound driver and then update driver, then go through the wizard, should update it.
