Yep ask BenR for the techie reasons for having them but its supposed to give more feedback and increased track makes for more potentail round the bends.
However if you go to far you can go through brearings quickly as you put to much load on the wheel.

If you do want to do it:

1) best bet is a different offset...
2) If that's too expensive, use a QUALITY spacer...

I've heard of a few spacers breaking, causing the wheel to come loose. One person on here even had a wheel come-off.

Make sure ur wheels are still fully under ur arches though.... or plod will have you

But yea, basicly, a wider setup will basicly give you more stability and traction, probably most noticeable at 50-60mph long-bends on country roads. Coupled with a low centre of gravity and you're away!

im running fk spacers 35mm all round had them on for just short of 2 years and only had one wheel baring go and at that it wasnt that bad....i think there are different types you can buy. the best ones are the ones that bolt to the hub and then the wheel to the spacer thats the type i have v v good quality cost about 250 quid i think
