Spare key issue..

My spare didnt work at all (would remote unlock or start the car).. then i followed this confusing post (below).. and now it starts the car, but will still not remote lock it..

can anyone be clearer on the information below?

To resynchronize RF keys turn Ignition off, press and hold central locking switch does not matter which side.
keep holding until you hear the doors double lock and press the fob when your pressing the central locking button,
then release central locking button You need to hold it down until the flashing light on the dash stops flashing
and stays on full, then press the button on your remote.

The immobiliser transponder and remote central locking works on two separate sysytems. I would suggest that if the locking function doesn't work try changing the battery first off.

Does the red light flash when you press the key?

Yes, the red light flashes on the fob (just like the fully functioning one)

Well I'd try the battery first as the key is working if the light flashes.

Does your main key work ok on the central locking?

Yes, main key works perfectly.

Just tried it again, and after ive locked it with the working key, the spare key goes back to clueless mode.. need to find out how to open this sucker without breaking it!

They are stubborn to open, but the two halves will slide apart in the direct of the arrow on the back of the key. Just make sure there's no rings attached as these will keep it together.
