Spare Key Question

Hi,

Wen i was younger and stupid i wrote off my clio 1.2 authentique. Anyway..no comments bout that pls.

I forgot to give the insurance co the spare key for the car. Anyway, got a replacement car, and now ive lost the spare for this.

Will it be possible to use the old key for the new car? I.e. even if the actual cut key is diff could the blip be coded to my car?

As far as i know you cnat reprogramme te key.

There is a guy on ebay who sells keys, think he does them for about £40 each, have a little search, been on there a while so will have a high feedback rating

Jus did a search..noone selling new, someone selling an old plip and sayin u can?

I do a key repair service, most of the time I manage to fix them.

As to using you old spare plip for your new car you cant, its just the same as you cant use your house key for your neighbours house but electronicaly.
The ones you see on ebay will be useless unless they are virginal keys that have not been programmed.

New and unprogrammed virginal keys cost about 30 quid from renault plus labour for programming of 0.4 hours.

Once a Renault "plip key" or "transponder" unit has been coded in it cannot be re-programmed to operate another car. If your car is a new shape 1.2 16v authentique the part no for a new key is 8200067907 £21.69 from renault - it will then cost you about £35 to have it synchronised into the ECU on your car + the price of a blade 7701387010 £12.32. If you try to start the car with a key meant for another vehicle this could lock the immobiliser and will leave your vehicle stranded.

my mate on his saxo said they charge you to find the code for your car, in his saxo it was by his rear view mirror under the lights and it savd him £30 any1 know where the code is for the clio?

i have just had a new one all in from renault at bolton for £78 and that included the £9.95 it cost for the blade

The previous owner lost the spare for my mr1 172 and he went to renault and i think it was around £101 all in. Ive got the recepit somwere!
