Spare Wheel & Cage

dead easy mate.

you should save about 15kg for the wheel and then maybe 2kg for the cage

im guessing its just a case of undoing the bolt to drop the cage as if you were taking the spare wheel out, but how do u take the other end off?

I done it after a month of avin the car!

Now told that even if i did keep it i wouldnt be able to get to it with my kombat rear bumper on

whats the rules on having a spare? remember getting pulled in my mates car and he had a bald spare and they said its illegal for it to be bald but im guessing its not complusary to have one then!

Im gunna take mine off too this weekend! So i just unbolt her and the cage just un-clips? Best not raise my suspension at the back! Can anyone lower torsion bars;)

yeah thats standard spare! i took everything out the back of mine and the suspension went up about 10mm at the back. Would have been rude not to lower it a bit more :0)

its not hard to do urself. Will cost u about £50-£60 if u take it somewhere!

i did mine with help from a mate, then realised i didnt want it 30mm lower (which is 1 click) so tried to put it back as it was, but somehow its exactly how i wanted it, about 10mm-15mm lower lol

Spoke to a police officer about this. If the wheel is illegal (ie bald) and its on your car, even if its in the cradle, you can get done for it. But its not legal to have one. Remember to get some of that spray stuff to re-fill/seel your tire if it bursts. It will make the back end higher though and you wont really notice much difference in weight reduction, although there will be a fair amount. But remember the less weight in the back end the more likely it is to skid out. Not that it will.

It is only a five minute job but be carefull I got rust in my eyes as I was "persuading" the cradle to come off. Stung for ages, so might be worth wearing some gogles.

Removed mine and weighed it. Was a bit under 18kg.

Difference to the ride height is hardly noticeable, but its always better to have the front slightly lower.....

If its lowered you might have too, but mine isnt (at the moment) so I could easily get under it.

Oh another point, do it after its been sat for a while or you will go burning your arm on the exhaust.
