spark gaps

Just wondered if someone could explain the difference made to an engine when you have the gap set at different widths (e.g 7mm - 9mm)?

I dont really understand how a slightly wider / smaller gap can be important in a spark plug!

um, nothing........

unless you Need larger or smaller gaps due to a heavily tunned motor.

the std gap is what you should be running, no matter what.

larger gaps make a larger spark but once the mixture is ignited, spark size doesnt make a diff.

turbos might need a smaller gap so that teh spark doesnt get blown out, due to the density of teh charge being to high....i.e. the smaller the gap the more reliable the spark as tehre is less change of it not bridging the gap.

dont worry and dont bother with plug gaps..........

and dont buy super 4s.....they suck poo poo and wont give you any performance gain for teh 100% extra you pay.

i honestly feel a difference runnin on Super 4s over NGKs

standard gap size is 0.8mm i think

i was waiting for you to respond to that.......

what do you feel makes them different to any otehr plug, effectively that are a NGK x 4.

my car responds better and honestly does seem ever so slightly faster, of course it could just be me but when i changed to NGKs i felt i had lost some power

BenR... what about you and Super4?! XR2 had problems once when firing a N2O?

Asking this because Im running Super4. Need to change them and want to know what to choose. What about when having the head skimmed?

just that they are expensive and no better than any normal plug.

if you change your plugs reguarl;y, why bother with 4 electrodes?

and yes, they didnt like working with my N20......they ran to hot.
