Speaker problem?

Yesterday i got iPhone 5 from EE(brand new).

Today when I tried to make a call I can't hear anything yet when I put the loud speaker on it works. Any ideas on what could be up with it, the mute isn't on and I've tried flicking it on and off it makes no difference.

Just checking before I go back the shop and make a idiot out of myself if its simple I've clicked etc

You have turned the volume up with the side buttons, haven't you?

Yeah tried that aswell.

Had a look through the settings but can't find anything

Faulty. I had a friend that had a 5/4s (can't remember) which was brand new and had the exact same problem. They swapped it no hassle
