Speakers - 2-Way VS 3-Way

  MK3 Sport Tourer TCE
Want to replace the standard 13cm door speakers.

Is there really going to be a noticable difference between 2-Way and 3-Way in such a small car speaker?

The speakers I'm specifically looking at are the Pioneer TS-E1376 [2-Way] and the Pioneer TS-E1396 [3-Way]

Any car audio freaks give me your opinion please :D

i take it you are talking about co-axial speakers??

if you are then get neither and get a set of componets

Cheers, so you'd recommend components up front.

I'd have to remove the dash to replace the tweeters, right? How difficult is that? Is there anywhere online with a simple-to-follow guide? :)

I have a 5 door Clio so what would you recommend in the rear doors?

nothing mate it will drag soundstage backwards

you need to take the top off of the dash its scary but really easy to do.

I had mine mounted in the a pillars but this was a lot of work involving FG.

for good comps look at:

DLS
Focal
Rainbow
MB Quart
Genesis
RE

  Civic Type-R
Depends what you like I spose. I would go for components in the front and coaxials in the back, but thats just me

Yes! Put your tweeters in the A-pillars
I can't describe in words how much it will improve the soundstage

Nothing in the rear at all? :(

If you went to a concert would you stand with your back to the stage?
Your want your soundstage up in the front-end, where anyone would be facing when sitting in the car.

A simple but decent set of rear co-axils will provide you with sufficient rear fill, so that the back isn't completely "empty".
Anything too powerful is going to disrupt the soundstage, creating more noise than music.

I have had these since I first upgraded from the standard speakers, almost 3 years ago, still running sweet :)
They aren't even amped and don't need to be

I have recently upgraded my front-end to competition level and had some matching-work done on the rear to bring the co-axils out from behind the nasty renault plastic ;)

**Oops double post**

Funny thing is - I was debating 2way/3way when I was collecting my thoughts on the new setup :)

Glad I stuck with the 2ways as 3way is a much more expensive area to get yourself into

Haha well actually at a concert i'm usually playing drums with a huge drum monitor behind me

But seriously, thanks for the advice, and your Focals look sweet as hell in those pics. It's not really worth my time and money putting tweeters in the pillars of my 1.2 Expression as I'll be getting rid of it in 12 months or so.

So at the moment I'm looking at an all Pioneer set-up, components in front, and co-axials in the rear doors. With a DEH-P55BT head unit.

Where's my credit card? :D
