I've got this really annoying popping noise when I change a track on my head unit and it only does it through 3 of the 6 speakers I've got (driver's side front tweeter, driver's side front door card speaker and the passenger rear door card speaker). It only does it when I use the head unit cd player and not in the disc changer and I've taken it to a Sony Service centre and they plugged it into there head unit bay and it worked perfectly, its just really annoying that I cant work out whats wrong with it. Can anyone help?

more than likely gonna be your speakers which are blown, strange how it only does it when you change track? its just the way you describe 'popping noise' which makes me think speakers rather than head unit

i had the same thing with my rear 6x9's, i think it was the coil that had blown so i replaced them adn now its fine, and its a good excuse to get some decent new speakers.

Yeah but there all infinity speakers anyway and i swapped the speakers with my mates which were prfect in hs car and they still made the noise. Its really confusing that i just cant think what it could be.

I've got a similar problem except it is the tweeters and rear speakers that are crackling in mine. I've been told that they need replacing but it's gonna a job and a half to replace the tweeters.

Yeah I now know what the problem is, i tried a different sony head unit and it worked perfectly, so my head unit is going back to the sony centre where i originally had it looked at and was told it was ok.

Found out what the problem was this afternoon, it is the output chip inside the head unit which is causing all the speakers down the right hand side of the car to pop. I got told by the sony service centre that it would cost £113 for the part including fitting, so i dont know whether to get it fixed or buy a new stereo. Unless anyone knows where I could get the output chip anywhere else cheaper???
