speedo working on and off ?

done a search and the common thing that comes up is a speedo sensor that is in the top of the gear box but i was under the immpression that the speedo works through the abs on a non cup. is there still a sensor there for it or is it in a different place?

part number will probably end in 919, most dealers will have em in, IIRC ~£20+vat
