Split and go standard for trade/ private or sell 'as is' Quiz time!

  e60 M5 -172- dciheid
Iv had my 53 reg 172 from new, december 2003 so a 53 and one of the 'last' 172s as a consequence.

Im about to receive a company car and also have a 3 year old mint R27 which is 100% standard, but nicely spec'd and as a result of this I am considering the future of the 172. As much as it puts a smile on my face when on a B road, the R27 is very similar and will hopefully hold its value 'not too badly' over the next 2 and a half years, although im not expecting any big miracles here, but it is a special edition blah blah.

Anyway... to the dilemma. Company car will just be an absolute joy  so I will have space in the garage for something 'tasty'.

So heres the spec of mine as it stands, do I split the goodies off and go standard for a trade/ private sale. I have ideas in my head about what Id look for privately and what sort of pittance id get from a trader in, but honest opinions on that would be good.

Main Items: -
  • Catcam 428s
  • Compbrake 4pots with new discs and pads
  • Custom RS tuning remap
  • Ph1 engine (bigger exhaust port)
  • Full service history
  • Shell: 92k - Engine: 60k
  • Cambelt, aux belt, pulleys and tensioners changed at 72k when engine swapped
  • 4-2-1 '182' manifold
  • KTR decat (light is on dash)
  • Cat back Powerflow exhaust
  • Trophy Spoiler
  • Silver turinis
  • Becker HU
  • Green Cotton Filter
  • Fully rebuilt gearbox
  • MOT and Tax til April
Advice on the way forward. If a good offer comes in on the clio as it stands then I will do a deal quite happily.

It may actually surprise you what you'd get in a trade in, made a lot more sense for me to trade the 172 in standard than faff about trying to sell it privately for the sake of possibly getting a couple of hundred quid more. Although I'm not sure that will be any use to you? No idea how the company car stuff works.

yeh joe, I hear you, trade in your looking £1500 or something im guessing, not sure what all the bumff would be get me if I did take it off, but the car is pretty complete and a good track toy in its current guise, so would be good for someone to take advantage of its set up at the mo

  Whichever has fuel
Pecs, what suspension has it got on it?

If I was you, i'd be returning it to standard, sell the paqrts, trade it in at the garage. No hassle, sorted.

Can you put some more pics up :p Sweet that is.

Is there not a cash scheme at work? Some do a cash alternative, while not as cost effective, it might be better for you?

As a guide, I got double that from Arnold Shark, 03 reg on a bit less mileage but bodywork wise was a bit tattier than yours is. Was surprised considering a "mint" one can be had for £3.5k private.

thats about it pics wise im afraid chief. Do you want to buy it? ;)

unfortunately the company car is mandatory. However it paves the way to fill the garage with a nice toy.

putting it back to standard and selling the mods would definitely be worth more for you cash wise but depends if you can be bothered with the hassle i suppose, sounds like a really good spec motor though so you never know you might get a decent offer as is

shouldnt have bought the inferno barge ;)

defo hassle factor on the 'mods' but I think its a good trackday package for someone so a bit s**t having to split it :(
