Sports Cat problems

hey guys, a while bk i had a problem with my ecu light and i got it checked and they said that it was the catalyst problem. Has anyone had this problem with the sports cat. (e.g has middo, as this use to be his, as i brought it from clio_sport).
now the problem is that they want me to take it off and replace it with a standard one. What u guys reckon i should do. i mean if its the problem surly i have to take it off.?

My 172 threw on the ecu light after I fitted a sports cat...took a while for it to happen though.

Passed mot fine and runs great still so have left it for the time being.

I believe Renault can clear the fault code using the clip system.

I wouldnt bother clearing it - I have a 200psi cat and I can turn the light off and its back 10 mins later - it goes off on its own some days but back the next! I even bought my own OBD reader so I can clear the fault myself! They are £20 odd on ebay if you want to try it yourself - cheaper than taking it to renault

or you could take out the LED from the dash. the dashboard takes about 10mins to take off.

I'm not bothered that it's there but realise that it could cause issues if I decide to sell the car

But it doesn't affect your MOT Neil?

I was thinking about getting a sports cat but mainly because i presumed they'd be no annoying light...

Even if you remove the LED then there is the SERV light too?

Didn't affect the MOT on my car mate.....serv light not on either.

The light didn't come on for ages....probably 6 months or so...came on finally when I was driving down to Cornwall in really wet weather.

I had this issue when I had one, basically it kept coming on.

In the end, the company I bought it from took it back and the light came on again lol. Booked it in and an o2 sensor had gone lol.

yeah i think my o2 sensor has gone too, are they important, or not really seeing as i got a sports cat. so it should pass the mot and service should be alright then should it?

May have to look into this then.....if it's a case of replacing the O2 sensor I'll get it done as it's pretty easy.

No probs with my sports cat so far. I've had it since September. Passed MOT fine.

Does smell quite fruity when started from cold - it clearly is braking the emissions limit then!
