Sports Cat

  Suzuki SV1000S

Are these worth getting? Am being paranoid about getting a De-Cat because of MOTs and being stopped with one on.

What is the worst that can happen if I am caught with one on?

Also can someone give me some info. on where to buy sports cats from apart from K-tec. - is for a mk1 172

Just get a decat ya big girl!
I didnt get checked for emmisions when i got pulled over by VOSA the other week...

  Full Fat 182 - Was..

but your car does need to be below the new EU anti sh*t laws for your zaust

but thats not a prob seeing the engine runs clean anyway, i ragged my 1.6 to death and it passed the MOT by a huge mark

so dont worry be happy

and go buy a de-cat you big fairy

So if I get pulled over by the police I will still be ok. The MOT aint a problem as I can get people to pass it anyway.

Mate, they wont check! you saw how they went over my car? didnt check emmisions or anything, didnt even look at the exhaust. Was more bothered about tyre tread, battery properly bolted down etc!

Do it! decat all the way!

George mat Ive just bought an OMP exhaust + de-cat and i never put the de-cat pipe in as the original cat looks a f**king nightmare to get out! + the mrk1 cat is not as restrictive as the mrk2 cat apparently!!!

So Renault put a more restrictave cat on the next model along in their sports car range???

Why would they want to make it go slower?

Well I will not be fitting it matey. Also the later mk1s had the mk2 cats, and mine is an April 2001 registered 172 so one of the last ones made. Are you suggesting I buy yours or what?

as in the other topic, if you are caught with a decat, nothing will happen to you, as it is 100% legal to have one fitted

if they do a roadside emissions test and you fail, you will be given a 14 day rectification notice, which is basically a notice telling you to book the car in for an mot within 14 days or face a fine

if you take a roadside emissions test and pass, smile blow a kiss and remember the fact your car is 100% road legal

yeh, i failed a roadside emissions test the other week:( not surprising though as i have a straight pipe from the downpipe back to the back box lol

Just got a Magnex, Janspeed de-cat, green panel filter and a R Sport ECU. Going by b4 and after races with my pal its soooooooooooo much quicker than standard! Amazing the difference these small breathing mods make!

With the Janspeed and Magnex it aint that loud really, liveable day to day.

what effect (bhp) will a de-cat have on a 1.8 valver, and what will it do to the mpg?
Not sure on BHP figures mate, i have one on an RSI, will be able to tell you more when its rolling roaded next, but have done other thigns as well, might have to de-cat it run it and then run it again wiht the cat on.

Its defo alot freer at higher revs
