Spraying mirror covers

I've rubbed down the mirror caps, and applied two coats of primer.

Do I need to rub them down again before applying the paint and then lacquer or not?

What's the process after the stage I'm at now?

Rub down
Paint
Lacquer

Or is there something different I should do there?

For a good finish you should be rubbing it with fine grit (1200?) after every coat!
This will get the best results. Try not to rub too hard between coats, you just want to be removing any dust or imperfections off the paint before the next coat. Once finished with the laquer, I would suggest wet sanding them as they will have the orange peel effect, and then polish them up with some rubbing compound.
I painted mine myself recently and they were quite 'orange peeley' so wet sanded them and polished. They now look like they have just come out of a professional body shop tbh.
