Spraying Plastic **HELP**

  Suzuki SV650

Er, Im pretty pap at spraying plastic bits on my car but so far Ive done the side bump strips, wingmirrors and the rear boot strip.

Just sand it down with wet & dry (used dry) until there are no scratches in the plastic, use a coarse paper then use finer wet & dry paper until its really really really really smooth! Plastic prime it with a couple of coats, making sure the coats are even! Dont hold the spray can too close to the grille, youll get runs or sagging and this will ruin it and you will prolly have to start over again...

Apply a few coats of paint and then wait a while before applying lots and lots of lacquer to make it shiny! The key is preparation and taking your time!

can use the wet and dry paper wet, apart from that exactly what i did. apart from got bored so still hase a bit of texture on mine, done front grill, bump strips, scuttle panel, door handles, boot lock, smoothed and painted rear panel, and wing mirrors.

Got better at it as went along, at the end of day if it starts peeling off after a few months you know u didnt do i gd enough job and u gotta do it again. not as if it costs u much.

Pete

itsa bugger if the plastic trim gets any chips in it cos its looks messy and then to respray is even harder to do cos itll all need rubbing down again.

Looks good when done though.

oh and leave it to dry inside your house in a warm room! when i sprayed a few bits on my old RT i left the parts in the front room with the fire on very low. Dryed rock hard.
