Squealing Noise

Hi Peeps,

I noticed this morning,

When driving around at a steady speed or slowly accelerating I can hear a squealing noise coming from the front end of my car.

Its really odd because brakes don't affect the noise. When slowing down, the noise slows with the car speed.

The noise isn't always there, it comes and goes, which is why I find it strange and worrying. Couldn't be anything to do with tensioners could it ? Or possibly gearbox ?

Any help will be much appreciated !!

Auxiliary belt squealing, it's been damp/foggy recently.. that'll probs be why.

But the noise slows with the speed of the car as in - When doing 30mph you can here a squealing noise. Then when you come to a stop the noise dissapears. Its not all the time either.

Does it do it if:

You're at some traffic lights, the lights go amber and you're setting off?

Yeah it does !

I'd say it's auxiliary belt slipping. Needs tightening up or replaceing if it's not new. Only cheap mate
