Standard 1.2 air filter thingy

You know, the one that's a foamy thing inside a box... if I took the front of the box off, leaving the foamy thing in, would it make a better sound? Would it ruin the air filter? Am I just talking stupid?

ur air filter would most probably fall out and then u wud be sucking in all sorts to the engine!
