starting fault - any advice please

My mum's mk2 1.2 clio has recently developed a problem of not starting. It only happens intermitently (sp?) but is doing her head in. Is this a common fault? Any advice would be appreciated. Tried to look in the common faults thread in FAQ's but won'y give me access for some reason :dapprove:

there is a known fault with the spark plugs on 1.2 clio's, but i would get it looked at before you start throwing money at it.

Won't give you acces as its members only.

Best doing a search but the faults most likly the TDC sensor or top dead center or crank position sensor (same thing just called different things by different people)

Unlikly to be plugs or coils on starup but throttle bodies can get dirtied up so check them as well and clan as appropriate.
