Starting issue help please

Hi folks usually the car starts up no bother but recently when I've been coming work it's had a weird issue. I've been starting the car up at home, fires up first time. Then driving it to the garage half a mile away, going in and then coming back out to the car which I normally just leave unlocked get in, start it up, will crank over and fire but then cuts out, which is weird. if I pull key out, lock and unlock the car and start it again it will fire back up, but yesterday it took 2-3 attempts at this before it did? Anyone any idea?

could be crank sensor on it's way out.

Yes. RAC man just telling me about crank sensor- or the battery on way out.
As my old Mum says, always have a good strong battery at the heart of every car
